Hope that everyone’s holidays are going well and that you’ve all enjoyed or survived this holiday season. My Christmas was great, very relaxing—well I mean it was relaxing after I started my shopping on December 23rd. Really I’m going to be better this year, I will, it won’t be like the past 10 years that I have said this, this year will be different…I think…I hope…hey even December 22nd would be an improvement!
We kicked off a new holiday tradition this year in my family, instead of buying gifts for one another the adults — no we do not promote gambling for our youngest family members so put the phone down no need to call DSS — all purchased $25 worth of scratch tickets and scratched until our little Christmas hearts were content. I’m happy to report that we made $120 dollars, which split between all of us will be a whopping $10…be on the lookout for my new pair of socks that I’m able to buy with all of my winnings! Also be on the lookout for any Adams’s or Williamson’s at your local gamblers anonymous meetings!
I thought that this new tradition worked well and based on the odds one day many many years from now my great, great, great granddaughter will probably hit the big one and become a billionaire. Seriously I thought that it was a fun thing for all of us to do at the same time and it took some of the stress out of shopping this year. A good reminder that the holidays are really about presence not the presents. I’ll definitely remember the laughs we had as we were all scratching away this year and I’m not sure I would have remembered the sweater that I would have opened if we had stuck to our typical tradition instead. I know so corny right?! I am not sure where that came from, I apologize in advance!
Hope everyone has a fun and safe New Year!
