The man in my life…Chris Jensen, PT

My new friend…the green band

This week has been very exciting!

I started physical therapy and after just two sessions I am feeling incredibly better!  As you know already from It was the best of times, it was the worst of times… and Want some dip with that chip? I have a small, okay probably somewhat larger than small, anxiety issue when visiting medical professionals. So let me give you a brief background in how much physical therapy I have had in the past. I played college basketball, during that time I had tendinitis in both knees and  chronic tendinitis in my achilles tendon, so I spent more time in my trainer’s office than he did. I was constantly wired up to the electrical stimulation machine. Yet still 5 minutes after I met Chris and he poked and prodded at my ankle I was already laying back in a cold sweat…I know RIDICULOUS!  I’m working on it!

After this minor setback, Chris went right to work, giving me ultrasound, exercises, and electrical stimulation. Already my ankle is almost unrecognizable from how it looked just a few days ago. The swelling is almost gone and I can actually move my ankle up and down and side to side. Plus my angel physical therapist a.k.a. Chris has run not one, not two, but THREE marathons in his lifetime. He is so nice, so understandable that I am such a wimp, and so good that I know someone up there is lo0king out for me when they sent me to his office.

So overall great news this week, PT is going very well!! Chris cleared me for 20 minute stints on an exercise bike so that I can get some cardio in. It was roughly 30 minutes after he gave me this news that I was sitting on a bike at Planet Fitness pedaling away. I am feeling a lot better! I’ve been doing me ankle exercises regimen twice a day, making circles both clockwise and counterclockwise with my foot, pushing down against a towel, raising my heels off the floor in a seated position, and a few other things using a piece of elastic resistance band. I have an appointment with Dr. Bradley tomorrow so expect another update soon!
