Money Monday also known as Tuesday

Hey everyone! Sorry that I missed Money Monday yesterday! For those of you who follow me on Facebook you know that I was working at Mr. G’s last night. For those of you who do not know this Kate-fun-fact, before I was in healthcare regulatory publishing I was in the pizza business. Last night I put my chef’s hat on and I was making pizzas. I LOVE LOVE LOVE to make pizzas especially with my second family at Mr. G’s (on Lowell St delivering to Peabody and Lynnfield (978)535-5355) So without further adieu here are your greatly anticipated 5 reasons that you should donate to Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund.

1. I did my first long outdoor run on Saturday!!! 19.5 miles!!!  I am happy about it now, but yours truly aka the newest MENSA member, made a significant route selection error on Saturday. I am not sure what happened I think that I was just so overwhelmed with happiness about the sunshine that I decided to run to Plum Island. However what I failed to notice were the strong winds that were taking place inland and I failed to think about what these winds might be like when SURROUNDED by the ocean. It was the windiest, coldest run I have ever done. It also felt like I was running with an NFL linesman pushing me backwards at every step. I did live to tell about it though!

2. The number of cancer survivors in the United States increased to 11.7 million in 2007, according to a report released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Cancer Institute (NCI). This is almost a 20 percent increase in cancer survivors from 2001. Read about how Dana-Farber recognizes a need for more survivorship care.

3.My th-th-th-thir-thirt (just can’t type the word) the birthday that comes after birthday 29 is quickly approaching and it would be a great b-day gift!

4. Dana-Farber Cancer Institute scientists report that they have shrunk or slowed the growth of notoriously resistant pancreatic tumors in mice, using a drug routinely prescribed for malaria and rheumatoid arthritis. Read the whole article.

5. You’ll be featured in the next Thank you Thursday…hello?!?! Do you want to be famous or what?
