Well this Tuesday was “Graduation day” for me at physical therapy. While I am grateful for the health insurance that I do have because it is decent, and thankfully much better than what many Americans are able to have or afford right now, my request for further appointments was denied and sent for “physician review”. So unfortunately Tuesday was my final appointment.
I am feeling a lot better and my ankle has definitely made huge strides, thanks to the amazing team at Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation. When I make it across that finish line on April 18th I will owe a huge amount of credit to the entire team at Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation, with offices conveniently located at the Cummings Center in Beverly as well as on Highland Ave. in Salem. Yes that is a shameless plug for them but they deserve that and SO MUCH MORE. I am feeling so much better, but the reason that I wanted to continue therapy was that I want to make sure that my ankle is 125% the day of the marathon and I know I am hovering somewhere about 90% right now. Let’s be clear though, before I stepped foot into their office I was walking with a pretty extreme limp and now I am running 16 miles essentially pain free.
This team of physical therapists is amazing at what they do. As those of you who have read my posts about my first appointment with Chris Jensen, Sports Therapy’s owner and director, know I am not the easiest of patients because of a minor (okay fine, major) anxiety issue I have when it comes to all things medical (still working on it). From the first day when Chris demonstrated such incredible patience and care with me I knew that I had chosen the right place for me. The ENTIRE staff at Sports Therapy were just incredible from Sam the receptionist, to Jonathan, Dan, Iris, and Joanna the therapists, EVERYONE in this office is compassionate, caring, and knows their way around an ankle, specifically an injured ankle. After somewhere around 17-18 visits with these guys I think that I can knowledgeably say they do not have a bad day. Not to mention that they are all really great people to be around, there’s some down time at a physical therapy office when you’re just getting stim or ice and the entire staff at this office are great to be around and chat with. The staff at Sports Therapy make you smile, they make you laugh, and most importantly they make you better.
So I had to say goodbye to them on Tuesday it was tough, we laughed, we cried and I’ll probably stop by next week just to say hello!
