Money Monday #2

The Green Stuff! It’s time for Money Monday again and 5 more reasons why you should donate to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy fund. So without further adew…

1. William Sellers, MD, and his colleagues at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute identified genetic abnormalities in proteins that control cell growth in cancers. These discoveries led to the development of targeted drugs used by patients worldwide for the treatment of multiple cancers, including lung cancer, leukemia, and melanoma. This work has become the model for personalized medicine in cancer treatment and is widely credited for helping transform the approach that pharmaceutical companies use for drug development.

2. The company you work for may match charitable contributions made by their employees. That would be a GREAT way to double the amount of money that you donate to Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund.

3. I got cleared for the elliptical this week which is one major step closer to getting ready for Marathon Monday on April 18th. Woo Hoo!

4. The Yawkey Center for Cancer Care will open next month. This new facility will bring the research and clinical teams closer to one another and provide a state-of-the-art environment for Dana-Farber patients to receive care.

5. One of my best friends at work, Mike Briddon abandoned me at the Pro last week, which will make this a very sad, long week for me without anyone to pick on at work!
